ASHFORD - Curtis Eugene Givens, a resident of North County Road 55, Ashford, died Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2009, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 69.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, April 16, 2009, in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, near Ashford, with Reverend Todd Mims officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Givens was a lifelong resident of the Greenfront Community, near Ashford, son of the late Froyd Laus Givens and Alma Lenora Clayton Givens. He was retired as a supervisor from the City of Dothan in the Engineering Department. Mr. Givens was a member of the Cedar Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Givens, Ricky Givens and Jerel Givens.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Henderson Givens, Ashford; a niece, Ginger Darabaris and husband, Butch Darabaris, Rehobeth; a nephew, Danny Givens and wife, Paula Givens, Dothan; a sister, Martha Givens McArdle and husband, Larry McArdle, Ashford; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Jessica Kitchens, Clayton Kitchens, Taylor Kitchens, Jerel Givens and Brianna Givens; aunts, Vivian Clayton, Inez Clayton, Lucille Clayton and Doris Givens.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Dermont Eubanks, Buddy Hughes, Dereal Levans, Clint Hobbs, Jimmie Hayborn and Ronnie Forrester.
