Garvin E. Chandler, 52, of 28 Teague St., Oxford, died Friday morning, November 4, 1966, at Veterans' Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness.
Funeral services were Monday, November 7 at 9:15 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Mulvaney officiating. Burial was in Arrington Chapel Cemetery near Piedmont in Cherokee County.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Lou Chandler; one daughter, Miss Beverly Chandler of Yonah, Georgia; two sons, Ronald W. Chandler of Yonah, Georgia and Charles McCord Chandler of Oxford; two sisters, Mrs. Baz D. Johnson of Oxford and Mrs. W. T. Lucas of Atlanta.
Mr. Chandler was a veteran of World War II [Alabama, Tech 4, Battery A, 897th Field Artillery Battalion] and had lived in Calhoun County most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James William (Jim) Chandler and Mary E. Garmon Chandler.
